Look at the joy and smiles written all over the kids. When it's Jon's custody day with his kids, he actually spends time with his kids. Unlike the other person who spends time with them one day out of the month. She doesn't really spend time with her kids. She may take them out to "run errands" or do parking lot photo-ops. Maybe even pick them up one day out of the month at the bus stop. But she doesn't really "spend time with them". Kate doesn't really care for her kids. She can "say" she does all she wants but actions speak louder than words.
But hey, the more she is away from the kids, the happier everyone is. So it's a win-win situation. The kids don't get abused, Jon doesn't get yelled at, and Kate gets to pretend to be a celebrity.
