While Kate Gosselin remains a fixture on television, her ex-husband John hasn't been as fortunate, but now, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the former reality tv star has landed a job -- a "normal" job -- he loves.
“On his first day of work, he just loved it. He felt weird that everyone knew who he was. But they didn’t talk about it, it’s a trust issue,” a source close to Jon told RadarOnline.com
“The job is information technology based and online marketing. He solves problems and teaches people to solve their problems, he really enjoys it.”
Although our source didn’t reveal exactly where Jon works, he did say Jon is often recognized while visiting clients and people were really accepting of him. But the journey back to his old life following his time spent on a reality TV show was not an easy one.
“He’s been trying to start his life again and to give up on TV and just do what he used to do. “He lost everything. He was left with two cars and had to start over again and knew he couldn’t go back to a government job.
According to our source, Jon downsized to a two bedroom apartment. At first, he was concerned how he could manage with all the kids but has since loved the close quarters because they are able to spend quality time together.
“He just wanted to start a normal life, it took him almost a year to find a normal job. “There were so many things that he had to face without support because there were not a lot of people in the world who could relate to the problems he was facing. He had eight kids at 27-years-old. He was on a reality TV show, he was in the tabloids and then he faced a divorce. It was a lot to deal with all at once.”
“In 2008, he did a lot of stupid things. Now he’s back on track. He has a great girlfriend and a job and wants to live a normal life.”
Jon is getting used to his old way of life now that he’s not earning the high wages that go with reality TV stardom.
“Fame and TV had an effect on him. He used to be a Holiday Inn kind-of-guy - he wasn’t used to the luxuries he was given while making the show. He became a Four Season’s kind-of-guy - he’d never even been to a hotel like that. Now he’s back to a normal Holiday Inn Express guy.
“After he earned the large sums of money he did in reality TV, it is hard to get out of the mind set. But he never wants to go back into it.”

An insider working at OFSA says that Jon Gosselin, currently exploring life a a “regular guy,” showed up today to pitch some property management company to the Greek houses. Wearing his typical bucket of hair gel, “douchey yellow Oakleys,” and mentioning that “he had been on TV” was apparently supposed to convince administrators to switch over to Global Green Property Services.
Cold-calling Greek life (apparently he hit Temple and Drexel as well) may not be the most glamorous lifestyle, but at least he’s doing something other than screwing up his kids. Or camping with Sarah Palin. Snap a pic of him around? Send it in!

With Christmas fast approaching, Jon Gosselin and his gal pal Ellen Ross have already bought a special tree for his eight kids to enjoy, and RadarOnline.com has the exclusive pictures.
Jon and Ellen have been dating for more than six months and are preparing to spend their first Christmas together.
Jon recently started a new job and lives in a modest two bedroom apartment in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. He is much happier than he has been in a long time, we're told.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "Jon and Ellen are determined that the kids have a great Christmas. He may not have a ton of money but he wants to get them gifts that mean something and that tap into their interests.
"Jon felt it was important for the kids to pick the tree with him and Ellen because it made them all feel part of the Christmas spirit."
RadarOnline.com recently revealed how the former womanizer is enjoying his new job in information technology while coming to terms with a more modest lifestyle.
The Christmas tree will be in his small apartment and both Jon and Ellen are already working through a Christmas list for the kids.
Though he's on a budget the former reality star is having fun planning a few surprises for his children.
The source added: "Jon knows that the kids love arts and crafts stuff, plus building sets and he likes to complete them with the kids, so, these will be on the list.
"The kids really enjoy the time with their father as he takes time to play with them while doing school work too. Both Jon and Ellen love to watch them practice their talents like singing, dancing or acting, as well.
"They are both really looking forward to spending their first Christmas together as a couple but want to make sure the kids have a great time too."
Jon and Kate's eight kids will be with their mom on Christmas Day while he will have them for New Year.
The once feuding couple has agreed to call a truce over the holidays for the sake of the children although Kate was less than flattering when she spoke about her former husband on the Today Show with Meredith Vieira on December 1, 2010.
She told Vieira: "I have never personally been apologized to," adding that she doesn't consider "an interview on TV or a tabloid" the appropriate venue to discuss family issues.
She added: "I am angry -- I'm hurt and I'm angry."
JJ.. You should post that really awkward good-bye partial hug between Palin & Gosselin. Lillian Glass would have a field day with that body language. They barely meet, Palin is pulling her head away from Gosselin and with a near allergic reaction on her face. I'm no expert but that was contempt for Kate, pure and simple.
Oh.. The clip was on the Insider. I won't watch TLC.
