Iodine-131 half-life = 8 days, meaning it will be SAFE in 80 days, not 8.
There a bunch of idiots spreading misinformation all over the web and the media. "Don't worry, it's half-life is only 8 days".
Once it's absorbed into the body, it then has a biological half-life of 100 days. Think of how much your body (thyroid and breast tissue) will absorbed in 2 months.
Don't be fooled. Take your potassium Iodide Tablet. Yes, it won't harm your right away. The Govt. knows this. Think accumulation, long term effects. Do you want cancer?
Not sure why the "experts" are telling us NOT to take the pills. More for them I guess? Or maybe population control?
Other radioactive material are NOW being detected. Including Caesium-134 Caesium-137. All of which cause cancer.
The C-134 ha a half-life of 2.0652 years and the c-137 has a half-life of 30.17. C-135 with a half-life of over 2.3 million years is not reported as detected.
