What I find interesting is the fact that you ignore the number of times that Jon has lost his temper with the children and ignore the episodes where Jon has very roughly grabbed one of the children, jerks the child towards him and then starts screaming at the child.
What about the fact that Jon himself stated in several episodes that he doesn't want the work that raising the children entails but the only thing he wants to do is play with them. Tough crap Jon you've got to take it all. You can't pick and choose.
